OUR NAME

Coffee dates back to as early as 10th century in Ethiopia. According to a legend, coffee was originally named "mocha", after its discovery by an Arabian banished in the desert with his followers. In order to save his community to die from starvation, Omar and his friends boiled and ate the fruit from an unknown plant. Not only did the broth save the exiles, but their survival was taken as a religious sign by the residents of the nearest town, Mocha. The plant and its beverage were named Mocha to honor this event. The Port of Mocha is also believed to be where the first coffee beans were transported out of Ethiopia and brought into Europe.

The name Mocha Blends is our tribute to the rich, colorful history that surrounds the common yet enigmatic pull of this bean and how it has influenced mankind throughout the ages.

TIMELINE

Mocha Blends concept was conceptualized mainly in 2001 by a young entrepreneur named Andrew Dela Cruz, who lived and trained in Australia. He wanted to bring back his experience and share it to his countrymen. And with the help of his dad, business leader, Florante Dela Cruz, he created the first gourmet coffee shop in the Philippines under Mocha Blends Corporation in 2002.

The first Mocha Blends gourmet coffee shop opened in July 2002 in Circle C, Quezon City. Followed by another 4 boutique outlets in the same year, including Thomas Morato, being the coffee centre of the company.

In 2003, Mocha Blends was recognised as 2003 Most Outstanding Coffee Shop and 2003 Most Outstanding Gourmet Coffee Shop by Consumer Choice Awards.

In 2005, 35 more outlets opened all over the Philippines.

In 2006, Mocha Blends was again recognised this time as a SUPERBRAND being in the forefront of Philippine businesses.  

In 2007, Mocha Blends expanded its brand and set foot in the international arena with the opening of Mocha Blends Indonesia.

From "No queues, no rush...Mocha Moments to share", Mocha Blends is moving forward with its growth guided by its new banner  "Mocha Blends...My Coffee Place". In its second big move Mocha Blends recognizes the diversity of its market, thus is keen to work together with its community to incorporate products patterned after the local palate.

THE LOGO

The Logo which depicts two men with their hands outstretched wide toward the coffee bean resplendent in its rich and colorful history. This simply illustrates that for those who are open in soaking up the benefits of coffee- passion, love, camaraderie, peace and unity towards family, lovers and friends shall be ours to enjoy.
